David Scalise
Arborist
I was raised with a strong appreciation of the outdoors. I grew up in a very active family of hiking, rock climbing, snow skiing and sailing. I started hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire at the age of 5 and trees have always been a big part of my life.
As a boy, I was very interested in trees; climbing them, drawing pictures of them, building and creating art with their fallen limbs, speaking to and for them, as well as planting them and helping them grow.
I attended Auburn University, where I achieved a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture.
After graduating from Auburn University, I worked at Monrovia Nursery in Oregon & Southern California. Monrovia is the largest privately held nursery grower in the United States.
I then took a position with Bartlett Tree Experts in Marin County, North of San Francisco. In 2001 I became a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. In 2002, I moved to Arizona to manage Bartlett’s Arizona operations.
I started Power Ranch Arborists in 2007. I am very passionate about the proper care of our Arizona trees. We can grow trees & plants in Arizona that are from many other regions, provided that they are properly planted, receive proper irrigation, fertilization and pruning.
We have a many varieties of trees & plants growing on our large property, so we understand through experience which trees & plants best perform in Arizona.
Some of our favorites that we have on the property: Eucalyptus, Ash, Oaks, Sisso, Pines, Fruitless Olives trees, Mesquites, Mastic trees, Apple trees, Mulberry trees, Grapefruit trees, many Orange, Mandarin & Kumquat tree varieties, Lemon trees, Peach trees, Pineapple Guavas, Grapes, Bamboo, Roses, Arabian Jasmine and Texas Mountain Laurel.
In addition we have a research nursery growing area, where we test and propagate many varieties of trees and plants.
We understand the specific needs of trees & plants that thrive in Arizona; Proper Pruning, Liquid Fertilization, Proper Planting, Insect & Disease Management and Proper Irrigation.
